Resident Evil 4 Remake: The 8 Best Puzzles

Estimated read time 6 min read

Like the remake of Resident Evil 2, the remake of Resident Evil 4 definitely needed to step up its puzzle game. The puzzles in the old game were all very simple and often could be solved in less than five steps. In the Resident Evil world, they are often made fun of, like the rolling one, which can be solved with a single loop. Some are reversions, and some are brand new.

The remake, on the other hand, not only made the tasks better but also added more of them. Some still have simple answers, but you probably won’t find them on your first try. Many of the puzzles are the same as in the first game, but they have been greatly improved.

Sword Puzzle

The sword puzzle in the Resident Evil 4 remake.

This one comes up in Chapter 7, right after the first Garrador is killed. It’s like the sword puzzle in the first game, where you had to switch gold and silver around. During the classic age of the show, that puzzle was done a lot, and the remake definitely made it better.

Before you can get one of the swords, you need to shoot all the marks that match the marked door. This is important, because you’ll need to do this again later. Then you have to look at each of the four drawings and decide which sword goes best with each one. It’s a short game, but it’s a good way to take a break after killing the Garrador.

Dining Hall Puzzle

In Chapter 9, you’ll find the Dining Hall task, which is also from the original game. In the original version from 2005, you had to read a few tips to figure out that you should shoot the red wine bottle. But a lot of people didn’t bother to read the hints and just shot at the picture until it was finished.

With the new version of this game, you actually have to pay attention. To figure out which two table seats are right, you have to look at the two drawings. It’s fun to figure out which seat has the right set of things, and this game is much better than the first one.

Crystal Marble Puzzle

The Crystal Marble puzzle in the chief’s house is the first and easiest problem in the original game. All you have to do is press up and left. Even though it’s better in VR, the reboot makes it even better. You don’t have to hit four orders; instead, you turn the whole ball.

To make the logo, you really have to turn it around and get it at just the right angle. It can be hard at first, but it feels good when you figure it out. The puzzle is still pretty easy, but it’s a lot more fun to play than the old Tunnel Rush game.

Cave Shrine Puzzle

To get the Church Insignia, you need to find two stone heads in the second half of the village. So, you have to solve two cave shrine puzzles in the two places where the heads are. These are awesome. To figure out what symbols to push into the device, you have to match the different symbols from different places in the surroundings.

It’s kind of like many of the fun problems in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. In one of the shrines, there are a lot of enemies that you need to kill before you can do the puzzle. Overall, these are fun to do, and puzzles of this type are always fun.

Church Puzzle

Resident Evil 4 remake's church puzzle.

The Church task is another one that is better than it was in the first game. It’s one of the best versions of the classic game, and it requires more thought than most. The sophistication of the remake, on the other hand, made it better. They are already put together, so you don’t have to make three circles and put them together to make one.

This can make the puzzle seem hard at first, but as you try to answer it, you’ll get better. On the first try, this can take a while, but when you’re done and almost done saving Ashley, it feels great. It will be interesting to see if the reverse Church puzzle from Separate Ways comes back in its likely DLC.

Depraved Idol Puzzle

This is one of the few puzzles that has a two-step answer, just like the original game. But that only happens on the easier modes, and you probably won’t notice it on your first run. When you start Hardcore mode, the pieces are all over the place, and it becomes a real tile game.

This can take a few minutes and is the second hardest one in the game. Here, you have to think ahead and plan your moves so that all the pieces go in the right place at the same time. When you finally figure it out, it’s a relief, and the Depraved Idol treasure you get is one of the best in the village part.

Salazar Family Puzzle

The Resident Evil 4 remake added side quests, and one of them asks you to go back to Salazar’s throne room and damage his portrait. This is near the end of the castle part. This room is full of treats, and there’s even a cool Easter egg that refers to the original. The trouble is that you may not know how to ruin the picture.

You could try cutting it or shooting it, but that isn’t the answer. The small hint here is the golden egg, which is one of the treasures you can find in the room. To change the picture, you have to use any kind of egg, which is a pretty clever idea. This is likely the most interesting side quest in the whole game.

Electronic Terminal Puzzle

the solution to the first power calibration puzzle in resident evil 4 remake

The three electronic terminals are the hardest tasks in the game. They are found on the island. These are hard enough on easier modes, but Hardcore mode takes it to 11. These are puzzles about joining wires, and Hardcore mode doesn’t just make them more difficult, it makes them a lot more difficult.

Here, you have to think, because trying to force it will take forever. These puzzles will take the longest, even longer than the one with the Depraved Idol. You’ll have to try a lot of different things, but when you figure it out, you’ll feel great. You can’t get that feeling out of any of the puzzles in the original game, and that’s how much better the puzzles are in the remake.
