HOW MANY WEEKS IN A MONTH
In the calendar of the year, we have twelve (12) months and these twelve months have different weeks and days that makes them. Some of the months has thirty one (31) days in them, some thirty (30) days, some twenty-nine(29) days and sometimes twenty-eight(28) days. Let’s look into them and see how many weeks and days they are made up of.

MONTHS OF THE YEAR
Months of the year are:
1) January
2) February
3) March
4) April
5) May
6) June
7) July
8) August
9) September

11) November and
12) December.
MONTHS WITH 31 DAYS
Months with thirty-one days has 4 weeks and 3 days in them. They are:
* January – 4 weeks and 3 days
* March – 4 weeks and 3 days
* May – 4 weeks and 3 days
* July – 4 weeks and 3 days
* August – 4 weeks and 3 days
* October – 4 weeks and 3 days
* December – 4 weeks and 3 days.
MONTHS WITH 30 DAYS
Months with thirty days has 4 weeks and 2 days in them. They are:
* April – 4 weeks and 2 days
* June – 4 weeks and 2 days
* September – 4 weeks and 2 days
* November – 4 weeks and 2 days.
MONTH WITH 29 DAYS
Month with twenty-nine days has 4 weeks and 1 day in them.
* February – 4 weeks and 1 day
MONTH WITH 28 DAYS
Month with twenty-eight days has 4 weeks in them.
* February – 4 weeks and 1 day.
NOTE: Only the month of February has twenty-nine(29) or twenty-eight(28) days in them. In a normal calendar of the year, it is 28 days, but if the year is a leap year, then there will be 29 days in the month of February.
WORD PROBLEM ON WEEKS OF THE MONTH.
Example 1:
Bisi came to the shopping mall in the month of August for 3 weeks and 3 days. How many weeks did she miss?
Solution
August = 4 weeks + 3 days
She came = 3 weeks + 3 days
1 week = 7 days, therefore, August = 4 × 7 + 3 days
= 28 + 3
= 31 days
She came = 3 × 7 + 3 days
= 21 + 3
= 24 days
31 days in August – 24 days she came
= 31 – 24 = 7 days
7 days = 1 week
Therefore, Bisi missed coming to the shopping mall for 1 week.
Example 2:
Mrs. Felicia goes to the market 3 times in a week in the month of November, to buy some items for the Christmas celebration. How many weeks was she not in the market?
Solution
Mrs. Felicia goes = 3 days in 1 week
1 week = 7 days
7 days – 3 days = 4 days
So, in 4 weeks, she went = 4 × 4 = 16 days, since there are 4 weeks and 2 days in November.
November = 4 weeks + 2 days
= 4 × 7 + 2
= 28 + 2 = 30 days
So, 30 days – 16 days = 14 days
14 days = 2 weeks
Therefore, Mrs. Felicia did not go to the market for 2 weeks in the month of November.
Is 4 weeks exactly a month?
No 4 weeks is not exactly one month, it can add 2 or 3 days, but on February 4 weeks is exactly one month except on leap year when a day is added to it.
Is a month 4 weeks or 5 weeks?
A month has only 4 complete weeks and not up to 5 weeks because is has only 2 or 3 days added to it.
