A Prayer for When You Hear God Say ‘Be Still’
By Molly Legislation

“And the Lord answered me: ‘Write the eyesight make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For even now the vision awaits its appointed time it hastens to the close — it will not lie. If it looks gradual, wait around for it it will certainly arrive it will not hold off.’” –Habakkuk 2:2-3

It is culturally satisfactory, even inspired to go, go, go! We stay in a hustle-centric society, a single to which I, like quite a few of us, have fallen prey. I experience, at periods, like I just cannot let myself to relaxation. It normally takes so a great deal psychological vitality to just influence myself I am not a failure or lazy for getting time to rest. I discover myself believing the lies of the earth that if I am not developing, I am worthless.

Nonetheless, there are pathways in my vocation and other passion tasks I am striving toward. As I pursue these stores, doors maintain opening and closing. In these times, I find myself at a complete loss. I grow to be frustrated for the reason that I do not know what God is accomplishing. I felt like this contacting, this route was from him. So, why am I still in the similar area as I started out?

As I technique the Lord in prayer, my remedy turns into crystal clear. I can both disregard what he is seeking to explain to me and drive back again even more challenging, just to spiral and conclusion up again in the similar put, but more weary and broken. Or I can slide to my knees, rest in the comfort and ease of my Lord’s existence, and submit to his solution to “be continue to.” I do not see this as God expressing, “No.” I believe in in his promises and guidance. I know his timing will be significantly improved than my personal.

For I know the options I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to damage you, options to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

He has built all the things gorgeous in its time. He has also set eternity in the human coronary heart nonetheless no just one can fathom what God has finished from starting to finish (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

I know this will continue on to happen during my whole existence. But I also know as I get nearer to my Savior and frequently lean on him by prayer and Scripture studying, I find that God’s answers are not all black and white, sure or no. Each individual time I’m with him, he instills in me the value of trusting him and his will. While he enables me to inform him about my plans and cry out in annoyance when they do not operate out on my desired timeline, he will carefully lead me back to a place of peace and contentment if I am prepared to follow.

Let us Pray:
Pricey Lord,

From time to time I do not recognize what you are executing in my existence. I usually sense trapped, discouraged, and hopeless. I cry out in the same way David did — “I’ve been patient, obedient, and worthy of the pursuits that I know will glorify you.” I pray you will relaxed my heart and surround me with your too much to handle peace. I pray I will turn to you faster when doors near and when you convey to me to be nevertheless. I pray for your assistance and wisdom in all that I do. Thank you for your enjoy, friendship, and parenthood in our lives. Thank you for seeing into people doors, into these options the points we could never see, and guarding us from a little something only you know would carry us harm.

I pray we will arrive into your existence and know your wishes for us, which will eventually remodel the course of our lives to glorify you and your kingdom. Be with the damaged hearts of those whose lives didn’t switch out the way they thought they would. I pray our ambitions will not cripple us, so we will not believe that the lies of the globe that make us hustle and at some point melt away out. I pray we obtain rest and peace in you. We really like and rely on you with all our hearts, our Father, and Prince of Peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
