A Prayer for Obedience, in Honor of Charles Stanley
By Meg Bucher

“Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Of course, wait around patiently for the LORD.” – Psalm 27:14 NLT

It was the loudest I have ever screamed. Ache shot through my overall body, stole my breath and remaining me crumpled on the floor. It wasn’t the 1st time I’d fallen, but it was the first time I’d fallen like that. I listened to an audible crack as my again smacked into the staircase and felt absolutely sure it was broken in half. Limping to the couch, struggling to breathe, all I could do was cry. Pathetic, distressing, sorrowful cries. Cries for support, aching to breathe and hoping to stand once again. My relatives encircled me as I gasped for air. I little by little stood, and gratefulness started out to wash about me as all the limbs and functions of my entire body seemed to slowly return. Battling by means of the rest of the working day, severely sore and concerned about inner hurt, my inner thoughts of gratefulness stored washing in excess of me. Grateful to stand, stroll, breathe, and move. Amusing but not so funny, how a literal journey down the stairs caused the possible end of daily life to flash right before me. I’m high-quality with meeting Jesus, at any time, but the pain of that minute is anything I will never neglect. Ready for my breath to return took bravery and courage …all I could do was wait …patiently …on the Lord.

Charles Stanley is known for this piece of sage counsel: “Obey God and go away all the penalties to Him.” Obedience will take courage. In my breathless second of intense soreness, I didn’t truly feel incredibly brave. But as the working day went on, I remembered Who goes before me. God. The angel armies of heaven are on my facet since He is for me. No wonder I survived the drop and walked away from what could have taken me out. Life takes place in His time, not mine. Excellent leaders like Charles Stanley, as they move on to heaven and go away their legacy for us to ponder, remind us of the courage it requires to be affected person, and the bravery necessary to wait on the Lord. Obedience to God isn’t straightforward. I just can’t even fathom Jesus’ obedience as He anticipated and endured the cross. It’s a day by day preference to swim against the recent of the earth and the evil in it lurking in it. But the Lord is always bigger. He can rescue us from any problem. We are harmless in His arms. Soreness will discover us in this planet like the early morning I slammed into my staircase and tumbled the rest of the way down. Lifestyle will knock the breath out of us, but as we lay motionless, gasping for air, we can have faith in our lives to the Savior who has now gained the victory in excess of demise. He gets rid of the sting of panic from our lives. We are in His fingers until eventually He calls us home.

Wanting back on that morning, I know God was there, shielding me. The levels of my faith let me to see His hand in my lifetime more plainly. The payoff of obedience isn’t a pain-free of charge lifestyle, but the viewpoint we attain as a result of it. It’s what good leaders like Charles Stanley position to …Jesus. We can seem back on the times of our life and know God’s hand was there to hold our backs from completely cracking in 50 %. All the levels of His like developed intentionally in our each day walk of faith movement through the times we are also weak to get up. He’s there. He appreciates, sees, and rushes to our aid. Let us pray for the religion to obey Him, no issue how difficult it is or helpless we feel, trusting the layers of His adore in our lives.

Let’s pray:
Father,
Although we are not all termed to be excellent leaders like Charles Stanley on a public system, we are called to minister as such in our every day life, to the people we position in them. Help us to be faithful, obedient stewards of Your operate and objective in our lives, Lord. However the globe might not know us for the caliber of fame as the terrific leaders of religion You have picked, we keep that caliber of fame in Your eyes. All of us. Thank You for going before us and protecting us as we fall and tumble in this earth. Whether or not by our hand or that of evil in the earth, thank You for often remaining there for us with best appreciate, care, compassion, and empathy. Bless our life with the braveness to obey You and leave the penalties to You. Remove all doubt, panic, get worried, stress, and hesitation from our hearts, so we may possibly comply with You with abandon, God.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
