A Prayer for God to Reply

“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill. Psalm 3:3-4

I really like that this Bible verse starts with the word “but.” While this kind of a little word, it refers back again to situations that are frustrating the author, to the trouble he was owning with his enemies, and to the absolute hopelessness of his staying able to endure just one much more detail. 

As a substitute of despairing about his troubles, and then sinking into a further despair, he begins to communicate reality into his daily life. He focuses his upcoming terms on the only one particular who can enable him. The Lord. He says: “But you, O Lord, are…” He reminds himself of who alone can help him—the Lord. 

But you, O Lord, are a protect about me. The Lord is a shielding shield to us in our every day battles. Our enemy, Satan, is applying just about anything and anybody he can to test to don us down, to make our lifetime difficult, and to wipe out us. But the Lord is our protect. Ephesians 6:16 tells us: “In all situation take up the shield of faith.” Our religion in the Lord is the protect that will protect us. Cling to this truth, and tightly keep on to your religion as you facial area your battles. 

But you, O Lord, are my glory. It is the Lord who is his glory. It is the Lord who provides his daily life which means. It is the Lord by yourself who will make him considerable. It isn’t really the reality that this writer is the King of Israel, or that he has palaces, prestige or has many little ones. It is the Lord alone. In our lives nowadays, in this fashionable environment, it just isn’t fame, income, relationships or social standing that gives us worth, but it is the Lord alone and his presence in our life that actually presents us significance.   

But you, O Lord, are the lifter of my head. All much too generally, so significantly is thrown at us that our head just naturally bows down from its fat. Our hearts become major and we battle to uncover the good in our life and feelings. It is in occasions this sort of as these that we need to remind ourselves that it is the Lord on your own who is the lifter of our head. He is the only one particular who can give us hope in the darkness, and the only one particular who can bolster us as we trudge by way of our weary situations. 

But you, O Lord, solution me. How encouraging to remind ourselves that the Lord responses us. He solutions us in fact, which ignites our religion, and offers hope to our future as we wait on Him to move in powerful means in every area of our needs. 

So as we go through our day, may perhaps we rest in this truth: the Lord is our defend, our glory, the lifter of our head, and He will hear our just about every cry and He will answer. We need to converse these text of truth of the matter and fortify our faith based mostly on our understanding of who God is and how He has aided us in the previous.

Expensive Lord, 
Thank you for the words and phrases of this verse. Thank you that you are my security, my which means for residing, my hope giver in the midst of my struggles. Thank you that I can cry out to you and that you hear my prayer, that you hear to my terms, and that you answer my cry to you. I appreciate you Lord. I will cling to the assure of these terms and move forward in my working day resting in your safety, in my importance to you and in the hope that you fill my heart with. Flood me with your peace and open up my eyes to opportunities to share the real truth of this scripture with all those all-around me.
