A Prayer for Assured Hope in the Storms of Life

“Therefore, do not throw absent your self confidence, which has a terrific reward.” – Hebrews 10:35, ESV.

Some movies have me sitting on the edge of my seat the complete time. I appreciate the standard movie arc of tale placing, growing action, climax, and resolution. Hallmark flicks are regarded for their standard storyline, and we can be assured a content ending. If only our lives have been that straightforward. We can experience frozen in location, frightened of the long run, and terrified of the existing. There are days when it looks we’re in a storm at sea without any way to navigate our way out of it. Driving it out is the only way by way of. The Apostle Paul survived storms and shipwrecks and did not lose his way even though it took 3 ships to get him from Caesarea to Rome. In those times sailors employed the stars for guidance, but on this journey by ship, a fierce storm blew up. The solid gale drive winds forced them to use robust ropes to tie the ship jointly. Dark clouds protected the sunlight, moon, and stars for fourteen days. They threw absent their cargo, which is like heading to the bank to withdraw a massive sum of funds, ripping it up, and throwing it into the wind. The sailors did almost everything they could believe of to survive but shed hope.

Storms of lifetime usually result in our hearts to quake with dread and disappointment. At instances we see them on the horizon and other periods they strike all of a sudden. These storms may be social, monetary, actual physical, emotional, or non secular. They put terrific pressure on us, and we often issue our religion. But religion in God is the only issue that will help a believer throughout good problems. The Apostle Paul is a great instance for us. He faced imprisonment, shipwrecks, dying threats, poverty, and fantastic emotional distress. Still, he experienced enormous faith and realized with self confidence God would give rescue. God is with us. He does not go away us to flounder. He helps make a way probable when we facial area not possible circumstances. At times, he calms the storms, and other periods, he calms us.

There was a time when I plunged into a deep time of disappointment in which life introduced no pleasure, and anything seemed darkish. I struggled with disappointment in excess of the way God answered a prayer. My anticipations of his claims did not match what I experienced. I predicted God to line up with my wishes and when he didn’t, I tumbled into a thorn bush of anger, cynicism, and question. The storm raged inward while I struggled in the darkness. The storyline of my lifestyle did not match the normal joyful ending of my beloved movies. In this storm, I did the only detail I could consider of—I study God’s phrase, but when I shut my Bible, I forgot what I examine. So, I wrote Scripture verses on playing cards and tacked them up all around my home. I understood the only way to navigate this internal storm was to correct my eyes on the Phrase of God because I could not have faith in my thoughts to manual me. My inner thoughts had been like the storm raging across the sea of the ship Paul found himself on.

Like Paul in Acts 27:25, we can say, “Keep up your bravery. . .for I have faith in God.” Our assured hope is found in a faith planted deep in figuring out God. To know him is to have faith in his claims stand even when our expectations are unsuccessful. We can maintain on to self-assured hope in the storms of life when we plant our self confidence in who he is. He is our Bread of Lifestyle, Residing Drinking water, and the Good I Am. He is our anchor in the storm, our waymaker, and our shepherd. We can stand the storms of lifestyle if we do not throw absent our confidence in him.

Holy God,

Thank you for remaining with me. You are terrific and mighty, entire of compassion. You see me in my hurt. I’m sorry for doubting your goodness to me in the center of my storm. You should forgive me for turning absent from hope in you due to the fact I can’t see you. Today, I select to maintain on to self-assured hope in you because you guarantee to by no means go away me or forsake me. I’m going to consider and dwell like it is accurate. I have faith in you to guide me as a result of this storm and fill me with hope. In Jesus’ title, Amen
