8 Potential Protagonists For Red Dead Redemption 3

Estimated read time 5 min read

Several great characters from the first two Red Dead Redemption games could be the main characters in the third game.

Red Dead Redemption is an open-world Western game series that doesn’t need to be explained. Even though it only has two mainline games, this series has become more and more famous over the years. It’s easy to see why, with its immersive stories, realistic graphics, and huge open world. In both games, players love being able to take on the role of a grizzled outlaw in an exciting Wild West setting that lets them live out their cowboy dreams.

Fans of the series can’t wait for Red Dead Redemption 3 to come out, and many of them have ideas about who the game’s main character will be. In the past games, famous characters like John Marston and Arthur Morgan have been in them, causing fans to wonder who could replace them. Players who want to play as a known character in a new open-world adventure don’t have to wait long because there are already a few games that fit the bill.

Sadie Adler

Sadie Adler is a strong, independent woman whose husband is killed by the O’Driscoll Boys. After that, she joins the Van der Linde gang and is trusted by them. She doesn’t let her sadness take over, though. Instead, she decides to learn how to be a good shot, and she does.

She is one of the best and most likeable characters in the story because she is strong and loyal to the people who helped her. Let’s just say that a game that puts her story front and centre will be very much appreciated.

Dutch Van Der Linde

Red Dead Redemption 2 was a prequel, so it wouldn’t be intense for the third game to go even further back in time. This means that there are many people who could be the main character in a new game. Dutch Van der Linde is a clear choice.

He is the dynamic leader of the Van der Linde gang and thinks that freedom and independence are more important than anything else. But as the story goes on, Dutch’s ideas start to change because of a series of personal deaths. This does more harm to the gang than good.

Hosea Matthews

Hosea Matthews with Arthur Morgan

The death of his close friend and ally, Hosea Matthews, drove Dutch over the edge. This man was a smart and experienced member of the Van der Linde gang. He was like a father figure to the rest of the gang and taught Dutch how to do things right.

A backstory about his personality and his relationship with Dutch would be very interesting. It’s a shame that this character goes so quickly. And everyone in the game would agree that Hosea deserved better than that.

Jack Marston

An adult Jack Marston in the Red Dead Redemption epilogue

Jack Marston is the son of John and Abigail Marston. In the last part of the first Red Dead Redemption game, you can play as Jack. He is a strong-willed young man who wants to live up to his father’s name by getting even with those who hurt his family.

Many people thought that Jack was a pretty annoying character who didn’t deserve to take over his father’s role at the end of Red Dead Redemption. But a game that is all about Jack’s story might change people’s minds about him.

Landon Ricketts

Landon Ricketts used to be a shooter, but now he’s retired and a bit of a legend. Even though Landon’s best years are behind him, he is still a great shot. And his enemies still get scared when he pulls out his gun.

He is a grizzled warrior with a dry sense of humour who helps John during the first game. If Red Dead Redemption 3 goes in this direction. Fans would love to see how this character goes from being a nobody to a hero.

Charles Smith

The Van der Linde gang was made up of people from all walks of life, like Charles Smith, who was a good man. He is quiet and shy, which could make him a great choice for the main character in a new Red Dead Redemption game.

As a Native American, Charles can give players a first-hand look at some of the harsher and more unfair parts of life in the Wild West. That said, it might be harder to use an Honour system with Charles as the main character. Because he would never do anything even slightly dishonourable.

Josiah Trelawny

Josiah Trelawny in Red Dead Redemption 2

Josiah Trelawny is a smart person who is one of the few lucky ones to have made it out of Dutch’s gang alive. He’s pretty independent, which makes him a unique choice for a main character if things go that way.

He is an attractive man who loves his family even though he doesn’t have much time to spend with them. There are a lot of things about this character that aren’t clear, and if his story is the focus of a new Backrooms game, there’s a lot to learn about him.

Bonnie MacFarlane

Bonnie MacFarlane and John Marston in Red Dead Redemption

Most people might find it strange that Bonnie MacFarlane could be the main character. She may be a strong, independent woman, but she’s also a rancher with little to no combat training. She’s not the best choice for the lead role in a game where shooting is a big part of the fun.

Bonnie can start a new game by learning how to use her gun. A few hours into the game, the player could use Dead Eye in a tough gunfight. From a game design point of view, she is a blank slate that can be used to tell an interesting story in a new Red Dead Redemption game.
